On Friday the RWC opened in a spectacular display of traditional maori performances and songs. Some of kids were lucky enough to be live in the stadium. The ceremony started with a long waiata followed by a loud haka. Then some wind carts came out with people dancing around them. Later they made the formation of two hammer head sharks facing each other. Finally the game started, the A ll Blacks dominated the game right to the end with Tonga only scoring one try. Over all it was a brilliant way to welcome the world to NZ.

I thought in my head was that a dream. by Lachie stokes week te marama has been focusing on making radio adverts advertising products that they have created from scratch. First we had to do roll plays trying to sell our product to the audience. Next we had to brainstorm a radio ad. After that we went into the computer suite and went onto audacity. Then we recorded our ads and added backround music. Finally we had our finished advert. But we weren’t finished, then we had to create our product on word here are a few examples.radio commercial mikes magic kit Wow, we were amazing in our class production item for our school production. We based our show on The Lion King. In our literacy time we learnt about the story theme and its characters. We also studied how media is presentedin movies and on stage. We had todecide on the parts of the story that we would share and how to interpret it in drama, dance, music and visually. This was challenging as our presentation time was 5 minutes – hence we went over slightly. We co-constructed which meant that the students and teachers shared, planned, evaluated their ideas. We had great team work and support from our talented teacher aides and some parents (thanks guys). The result was an extremely visual and interesting presentation. We will add photos and a video clip when they are available. Well done Te Marama!!! Welcome Te Marama students to a new and exciting year. I hope that you are having a fantastic summer holiday and will be ready to have fun and learn when you come back to school in February. Remind your parents to go shopping for your stationery and remember to check the list so that you have the correct exercise books and equipment. last week an olympic windsurfing champion called Barbra Kendal came to our school. She told us about her experiences in Bejing and all the other olympics she had been to, she said she had been to six olympics. She played a game with us, it was a game she played with her fellow olympions when they were having lunch they would wait for someone to walk in and just by their apperence they could geuss what sport the participated in. She also told us about her daughter she loved swimming so her mum thought she would be bound to go to the olympics but she always swam under the water, she wondered why until her daughter said that she wanted to be a mermaid. We had an Amazing Race day based on the cultures we were studying. Te Marama are learning about Zero Waste. Our focus this week is ‘Compost’. We will be making our own mini compost to take home
